6 Steps to Become TNI Accredited
Step 1: Purchase the TNI Standard.
To comply, laboratories must first purchase the standard for access to all requirements and suggestions.
Step 2: Review TNI Standard Checklists.
Available through the NELAC Institute website and your purchase of the TNI Standard, checklists for labs are used to ensure they adhere to both management and technical requirements.
Step 3: Conduct a GAP Assessment.
Your laboratory may already meet some standard requirements. GAP assessments will allow you to focus on areas of non-conformity.
Step 4: Update Quality Management System.
Update procedures and policies to meet standard requirements.
Step 5: Decide Which Accrediting Body to Seek Accreditation Through.
If the state of which your laboratory operates is an accrediting body, you will normally go through that state for accreditation. If your state is not an accrediting body, you will choose an accrediting body that suits your laboratory and clientele needs.
Step 6: Request a Third Party TNI Standard Assessment Audit.
Audits from third party assessors ensure all standard requirements for quality systems and procedures are met. These assessment audits are scheduled and performed through the accrediting body you have chosen in the prior step. Once the audit is complete and the report is submitted, the accrediting board will determine if accreditation will be granted.
