The Business Development Specialist is responsible for various tasks related to sales and business development.


  • Identify leads and follow up with prospects
  • Manage contacts and leads through company’s CRM software
  • Assess potential leads and work with senior leadership to formulate scope of work
  • Build market position by locating, developing, defining, and maintaining business relationships
  • Facilitate company growth by identifying new markets, growth areas, trends, products, services, etc
  • Ability to meet with current and prospective clients in person and/or virtual meetings
  • Understand needs of clients and is able to effectively formulate a plan to meet those needs
  • Attend seminars, conferences, and networking events as required
  • Assist with planning and deploying sales campaigns
  • Create and manage sales pipeline


  • Bachelor’s degree in business marketing, or related field with 3+ year’s scientific sales experience
  • Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related scientific field with 0-3 year’s scientific sales experience


  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Prospecting and closing skills
  • Selling to customer’s needs
  • Energy market knowledge
