Overview:

This course provides the student with a solid understanding of required maintenance of the Gas Chromatography (GC) system and basic troubleshooting strategies. Designed for new operators or those wanting a refresher, this course covers GC issues typically encountered in a laboratory setting. Discussions include inlet cleaning, column cutting and installation, and basic GC system troubleshooting.

At the conclusion of this course, the student will have a sound understanding of how to perform routine maintenance of the GC system and how to make effective troubleshooting decisions.

  • Detector Maintenance
  • GC System Troubleshooting

Hands on Training for Each Student:

  • Preventative Maintenance – Septum Liner
  • Injector Cleaning
  • Cleaning Split
  • Changing the filters
  • Detector Cleaning – FID
  • Column Cutting and Installation

In addition, all students receive a copy of the training materials and certificate of attendance.

Carolyn Elmore has over 20+ years’ experience in the environmental laboratory as an analytical chemist, lab manager, and quality systems manager.  She has a B.S. in Environmental Science with a minor in Chemistry from Delta State University. She has received training in EPA Wastewater Regulations, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 17025:2005, and TNI 2009 standard. Carolyn has provided QA support to companies who must comply with TNI 2009 standard.  She has extensive experience in wet chemistry, chromatography, and spectroscopy.
